The American Gear Manufacturers Association has purchased the publisher of three industry-related magazines along with the company's online database, the group announced Tuesday.
AGMA has acquired Randall Publications, a 34-year old media company based in Elk Grove, Ill. The publisher's assets include the industry magazines Gear Technology, Gear Technology India and Power Transmission Engineering. The purchase also includes a 10,000-record online technical database, the company's websites and a combined circulation list with more than 23,000 records. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Gear Technology and Power Transmission Engineering are the pre-eminent technical publications serving the entire power transmission technology supply chain, and AGMA is thrilled to bring these properties in house as we strive to deliver value to the industry we serve," John Cross, chair of AGMA's board of directors, said in a statement.
As part of the deal, AGMA will now have an eight-person Chicago office, with Randy Stott serving as managing publisher for the magazines and as a vice president within AGMA. The association will maintain its 13-person headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
The new staff will join AGMA on Jan. 1, 2020.
